Narendra Modi is the current Prime Minister of India, having taken office in May 2014. He was born on September 17, 1950, in the small town of Vadnagar in the state of Gujarat, India. His father was a street vendor, and Modi grew up helping his father sell tea at the local railway station.
Modi completed his schooling in Vadnagar and later earned a degree in political science from Delhi University. He became involved in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a Hindu nationalist organization, at a young age and eventually rose through the ranks to become a leader within the organization.
In 1988, Modi joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a political party that promotes Hindu nationalism. He worked his way up the party ranks and eventually became the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001. During his tenure as Chief Minister, Modi implemented several economic and development initiatives that contributed to the growth and prosperity of the state.
In 2014, Modi ran for the position of Prime Minister and was elected with a strong mandate. During his time in office, he has implemented various economic reforms, including the introduction of a goods and services tax, and focused on improving India's infrastructure and foreign relations.
Modi has also been a controversial figure, with many accusing him of promoting Hindu nationalism and discriminating against minority groups. He has also faced criticism for his handling of issues such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the farmer protests in India.
Despite these controversies, Modi remains a popular figure in India, with many credit his policies for the country's economic growth and development.
